My favorite book is "Who Moved my Cheese?" by: Spencer Johnson. When I first began as a early childhood teacher I had a little trouble adjusting to change and so my director suggested I read this book. After reading the book, I learned that when I am put into a situation that in unfamiliar I must learn my surroundings so when the situation changes I am adaptable. My favorite author is Eric Carle. I love his books because they are fun to read and they build language, courage and they help with building character. His books also enhance math, and social development. I hope someday to visit his museum in Boston. One of my favorite quotes is “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” Benjamin Franklin.
Hi Leslie,
ReplyDelete"Who Moved my Cheese" was a book used in my book club. It was a good read and very informative. It sparked a lot of conversation about how to handle challenging situations in the workplace, at home, an in the classroom. The content of the book promoted an attitude of acceptance and a virtue of humility. A person must learn how to be versatile to adapt in various situations in order to be successful.
Eric Carle is a wonderful children's author. I don't think their is a classroom without at least one of his books on the bookshelf. My classroom has about 5 of his books and the children love them. They read them over and over. His books are also easily turned into teacher made games, flannel board stories, and word wall cards.
